Meet Norm has a new enemie: The Mole!

Hello everybody,

We are very excited to show our latest update of Meet Norm! In this movie we’ve implemented a new enemie, the mole! He’s going to chase Norm along the underground tunnel. This is just a preview, but we are going to add some challenges to avoid being caught by the mole.

In the next update we want to introduce the end boss, a GIANT MOOSE! How cool is that?

Meet Norm new underground area and soundtrack

Hello everybody,

We are very excited to show our latest update of Meet Norm! In this movie we’ve implemented a new soundtrack for the underground area. After Norm gets chased by the spider he will fall down a mole hole entering the underground area. We tried to give the underground soundtrack a bit of a creepy/groovy sound. We hope you guyz like it.

Besides the new soundtrack you can see a little bit of the underground area. It’s not even close to finished, but you’ll get a glimps. We are currently working on a giant mole who will hunt Norm down the underground tunnel. More mole action in our next update!

Meet Norm | New soundtrack and a lot more!

We are very excited to show our latest update of Meet Norm! In this movie we’ve implemented all our previous work. But with one big change, we’ve got music! With the help of Markus Görthofer (our new composer) we made a video with our new soundtrack and we love to know what you guyz think. Does it feel right? We are trying to create a kind of goofy fibe with Meet Norm.

Meet Norm | Help us define the panic system

Hi everybody,

In this update we need your help figuring out how we are going to implement the panic bar in de UI of Meet Norm. But first, a quick introduction of why the bar is needed.

Norm is not a normal worm. He has an anxiety disorder, so he’s scared of eveything. Norm doesn’t have a health bar or lives, no, he has a panic bar. If Norm gets hit his panic level will rise. When the bar hits the max, Norm will start hyperventilating and its over.

We have been working on two bars. Check out the pictures below and let is know wich bar you prefer and if you have any suggestions how we can pimp it.

When we figured out wich bar we will use and have worked out the improvements we are going to start and the tunnel vision effect. The further Norms’ panic increases the less he can see. We will create a tunnel vision, because that happens when your panicking ;). We will place a filter over the lens that will narrow the ingame vision and will really give you the feeling that you are in trouble.

Meet Norm | Discover the spider chase!

Hi again!

Welcome to the new update of Meet Norm. In the last update we showed you a screenshot of Norm meeting his first big enemy, the spider. You can imagine what happens next. Norm freaks, starts crying like a little girl and runs for his life. So we needed to make some animations to make the spider come to life. Vince created a tree that comes falling down and from under the rubble the spider emerges. The chase begins! During the chase the spider will try to jump on Norm and bite him. So you better run fast. One mistake and he’s done for.

We didn’t get into the soundeffects and music but here is the first gameplay shot of the beginning of the chase.

Upcoming: The panic system

We are working out the unique panic system Norm works with. Norm will get a panic bar wich will indicate how much he can still handle. If the bar is full, he will be done for. The bar will slightly decrease over time (if you dont get hit by anything) and Norm will calm down.

There is a second way Norm can calm down. During his youth Norm has had a couple of anxiety attacks and started hyperventilating. So his parents bought him a inhaler to regulate his breath and calm him down. So this little trick works out quite nice for Norm. Norm can pick up inhalers in the levels to calm him down and give him some slack.

Norm gets hunted

Meet Norm Spider Boss

Hey guyz,

Welcome back! In this update you’ll see a screenshot of Norm facing a huge spider. In the first part of the demo Norm will start exploring the forest. During your exploration a tree falls down and this big bugger comes crawling out. The next few minutes you will be running your ass off trying to avoid getting caught.

Norm goes camping

In this update we present a small gameplay trailer of Meet Norm. Norm is just getting out of the village. He walks through a small mining camp. Where you can see some new enviroment objects like the cosy little campfire and a tent. We would really love some feedback on the look and feel of our game, so fire away ;).

Meet Norm worldHey guyz,

Check our weekly screenshot of our game Meet Norm. This week we have been working on some new objects. First of, the house. The creatures in Meet Norm are somekind of an intelligent lifeform. So they live in houses :). The demo will start in the village where Norm lives. So you’ll stumble on some houses.

Second, we changed the ground texture. This way it looks a bit more like real dirt then in our previous screenshots. Vince Kieft added some rock textures, a little to much for my taste, but maybe you guyz can give your opinion on whether it is to much or not.

Last, we added some environment object like mushrooms, some raspberries, grass and a stone wall. Overall we wanna give you the feeling that Norm is very small in a very big world. I hope you guyz feel like we are on the right path!

Check out our first build of the demo level!

Take a look at our first build of the demo level. We’ve placed some objects to create a first glimps of the forest. Don’t worry, we will fill the level with more object and moving stuff. Enemies and other background animations will soon follow, but we have to start somewhere ;).

We tried to create the feeling that Norm is small guy in a very big world. Hopefully we can manage to give you that feeling. Have a look and tell us what you think! And if you like it, please share it with your friends :).
